It is certainly a tough challenge for a woman to start up a business, but it is surely tougher for a disciplined teacher to do so. But, Ms Do Thi Hong, Director of Bac Trung Nam Joint Stock Company (located at 321 Ba Trieu Street, Ham Rong Ward, Thanh Hoa City), has overcome all difficulties to become a successful businesswoman.
Taking human elements as the root
As a former teacher, Ms Hong attaches great importance to talent and human strength. The Director of Bac Trung Nam Joint Stock Company said: “When I brainstormed the idea of setting up this company, I thought of having a contingent of good staff. Initially, my company was just a small agent for purified water and Chinsu products, but I had a complete apparatus consisting of director - that’s me, an accountant, a treasurer, a storekeeper, a driver and a salesman. For me, human strength makes all, but one head cannot work as well as ten.”
This policy has brought success for this enterprising and scientific woman. After 10 years of operation, from six initially low-paid employees, the company now has over 500 well-paid employees.
When the company entered new business fields like transport, tourism, education, healthcare and others, Ms Hong holds the philosophy that any success originates from human factors. Thus, she focuses on training her employees. All staff are taught professional skills, communicative culture, integrity, courteous attitude and respect for customers.
The current success is the outcome of tireless efforts of the Board of Directors and all staff, and the support of authorities.
Kind heart
As she was born and grew up in a poor family, she never forgets to share with those less fortunate when she became a successful and wealthy woman.
Director Hong said: "The company always agrees on four development objectives: Incomes for workers; existence and development of the company; payment to the State Budget; and participation in social activities. These four objectives must exist together. Doing charity is like the food for thought. My colleagues and I feel that we are worthwhile to the society. And, most importantly, we can help those in difficulty.”
Recalling her business trip to mountainous districts, Ms Hong said: "One time, a group of eye doctors and I came to a mountainous area to provide free eye checks. A 90-year-old blind lady did not know her eyes could be cured. Following the surgery, she could see again and she could not hold back her tears because of happiness. ‘I can’t believe that I can again see my offspring in this life,’ she said. I was moved with her happiness.” With her deep sympathy for the elderly, Director Hong decided to build a rest-home for the elderly in Thanh Hoa City.
