Coffee Price Increases Sharply
The price for rough coffee seeds in the central highlands was offered at VND37.3-37.5 million per tonne on January 11, VND800,000 higher than in the previous transactions.
A considerable increase in the price for robusta coffee over the past two days has been attributed to the weak US dollar and bulk orders by speculators on January 10.
Another reason is coffee businesses tend to stock up with their products in the hope of selling them at a much higher price later. They only want to sell some of their products for Tet celebrations.
