VN Eyes Export Turnovers of US$108.5 Bln This Year
Vietnam plans to focus trade promotion activities on its key export markets like the US, Europe, China, Japan, ASEAN, the Middle East, Africa and India, according to an official of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
It is part of the National Trade Promotion Program for 2012 to reap export turnover of US $108.5 billion, Mr. Do Thang Hai, Director of the Ministry’s Trade Promotion Agency.
Regarding the European market, Vietnam will accelerate export of agricultural, forest and seafood products, processed foodstuff, woodwork and light industry items. The country has eyed an export growth of 11% in the market, he said.
For India, Vietnam will promote export of natural latex and rubber products, coffee, pepper, cinnamon, star anise, saffron, tea, chemicals, steel, textiles, handicrafts with expected turnover of over US $1.5 billion this year.
According to the 2011 – 2020 goods import and export strategy recently approved by the PM, total export revenue by 2020 will more than treble of 2010, or over US $2,000 per capita.
