Cooperation Opportunities for Businesses in Vietnam and Okayama, Japan
Businesses in Okayama prefecture of Japan are looking for outsourcing partners and import agents in Vietnam.
This is the major content of a Vietnam - Okayama (Japan) business meeting held in Hanoi by the Japan-Vietnam Association - Okayama Branch, and the Okayama International Cultural Exchange Association in collaboration with the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).
The Okayama business delegation consists of five companies operating in ICT, metalworking, industrial machine and automotive parts, bicycle, electric bike, law and other businesses.
Mr Pham Quang Thinh, Deputy Director of International Relations Department, said that this is a good opportunity for Vietnamese and Okayama businesses to discuss, exchange information and seek cooperation opportunities to promote Vietnam - Japan economic and trade relations in the new era. Vietnam and Japan target bilateral trade turnover of US$30 billion by 2015.
Mr Kazumi Oohashi, Chairman of Okayama International Cultural Exchange Association, said: “We hope to have mutual economic information exchanges like this to search for business opportunities with Vietnamese companies and promote the comprehensive bilateral cooperation between the two countries.”
Japan is now a top trade partner and investor in Vietnam. Since the two countries initiated the Vietnam - Japan Joint Initiative in 2003, the two-way diplomatic and economic relations have developed strongly and comprehensively in many aspects and confirmed strategic partnership.
Following the Japan visit by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung last November, both sides pledged and agreed to carry out many major projects in Vietnam like Long Thanh International Airport, highways, subways, Ninh Thuan nuclear power plant, rare earth industry development and Lach Huyen deepwater port. The two sides also signed the government-level "Confirmation Document" on Japan’s support for training and receiving Vietnamese nurses, according to the framework of the Vietnam - Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (VJEPA).
