Tax Cuts on Imports from Laos

The Vietnamese Ministry of Finance has issued the Circular 36/2012/TT-BTC guiding import duties on preferential commodities imported from Laos.

 

Where the commodities are not included in the ATIGA (ASEAN Trade in Goods Agreement) tariff, a 50 percent cut will be applied. The tax rate will be MFN tariff issued together with the Circular 157/2011/TT- BTC of the Ministry of Finance. Where ATIGA tax rates are higher than MFN rates, the cut will be subjected to the lower case.

 

The circular also specifies the list of imported goods excluded from preferential import duties in 2012.
