US Embassy Screens Battleship to Celebrate World IP Day in Vietnam

 The U.S. Embassy in Hanoi, the Motion Picture Association (MPA) and Megastar cinemas recently celebrated World Intellectual Property Day 2012 by organizing a screening of the much anticipated Hollywood movie, Battleship.

 

Nearly 150 representatives from the Vietnamese government, universities and artistic industries attended the screening.

 

World IP Day recognizes the role of intellectual property and technological innovations in shaping creative industries. This event is a great example of the benefits a country can enjoy when they create a strong system to protect intellectual property. “The film industry is an important source of exports for the United States and the protection of intellectual property has been integral to its success. I am confident that talented Vietnamese artists will see similar benefits in a system where their creative works are protected ” noted U.S. Embassy Economic Counselor Jessica Webster.

 

Battleship, a sci-fi action film from Director Peter Berg, stars Liam Neeson and Rihanna in her film screen debut.
