Chevron-led Block B Gas Project Joins Hands to Support Mekong Delta Education
The Chevron-operated Block B Gas Project, on 18 May, signed an agreement with the National Fund for Vietnamese Children (NFVC) to support school upgrades and provide scholarships to more than 800 schoolchildren in Ca Mau, Kien Giang, Bac Lieu and Hau Giang provinces, and the city of Can Tho.
The initiative is part of an ongoing Block B Gas Project program that has already helped improve access to education by providing scholarships to more than 2,300 children in the Mekong Delta since 2009. The project partners, a Chevron-led consortium of Chevron Vietnam Ltd., PetroVietnam Exploration Production Corporation (PVEP), Mitsui Oil Exploration Co., Ltd. (MOECO), and PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited (PTTEP), have upgraded 10 schools in the past two years and will upgrade five additional schools this year. The total value of the partners’ donation to the NFVC this year is approximately VND3 billion (US$150,000).
