In Anh Thu Export and Import Joint Stock Company (located in Ba Hang town, Pho Yen district, Thai Nguyen province), the hierarchic boundary between managers and employees does not exist, but it is replaced by friendship and fraternity. Hence, the company has always managed to mobilise collective efforts to overcome difficulties and challenges since its incorporation.
The company creates no distance between managers and employees, provides the opportunity for employees to develop, and improves manager - employee behaviours. The company promotes values that make it a great family, not just a workplace. At present, most employees are under 30 years old. They are very dynamic, passionate and dedicated. Cu Xuan Thu, Director of Anh Thu Export and Import Joint Stock Company, told us about his experience in personnel administration. He said personnel management is the biggest issue for any company at this tough time. Many employees leave their company to seek new challenges and opportunities. This is inevitable.
He said a good human resources administrator knows how to build up an ideal team and to motivate them. The attachment and closeness of the staff will help the company to overcome difficulties. This is clearly proved at Anh Thu Export and Import Joint Stock Company.
Operating in automobile trading and importing, interior designing, real estate trading and construction in Thai Nguyen province, Anh Thu cannot avoid the general difficulties of the current global economic recession. Pressures of business targets aggravate as a series of real estate projects come to a standstill, while the funding for business operations drains. But, Anh Thu’s staffs always work hard to withstand difficulties and challenges. By listening to ideas from employees, Anh Thu can introduce more appropriate policies.
This consensus, according to Mr. Thu, is not only generated from preferential treatment policies and good working conditions for employees to develop, but also the result of conduct and attitudes between leaders and employees. “We create a good working environment where all employees are fairly competing with each other and we create a home where all employees build an attachment to one another,” he said. “So far, the biggest success of the company is to create a home-style working environment where all members feel like staying at home.”
With firm steps toward long-term sustainable development, the company has won the trust of the authorities who assign more important tasks in infrastructure and road construction in Thai Nguyen province. The company is carrying out many key projects, including like Ba Hang new urban zone and administrative centre, and An Sinh Phu urban, economic and cultural centre. The projects implemented by An Thu will play an important role in upgrading Ba Hang town, Pho Yen district, into an industrial town by 2015.
While the economy slows down and the real estate market is lacklustre, many have to change their business lines to survive, but Anh Thu is persistently investing in this field. Mr. Thu explained, “The real estate market will revive in a couple of years and we will be late for that if we do not start now. The company’s strengths are a young, dynamic, assertive workforce. Hence, we are creating most favourable conditions for this force to develop.”
This young director born in the 1980s is known for his contributions to society. Annually, the company presents gifts and cash for people who sacrificed for national liberation, victims of Agent Orange, families of wounded soldiers and martyrs, elderly childless people, and poor students with outstanding academic records. Anh Thu grants hundreds of scholarships for poor students. This is also a practical investment in local human resources.
