Mountainous Mining JSC Keeps Expanding Operations
Eight years after splitting operations from Thai Nguyen Mineral Company, Mountainous Mining Joint Stock Company has had solid progress and made important contributions to the economic development of Thai Nguyen province. The company was established with a tiny registered capital of over VND1 billion and had to hire an old production factory, but achieved nearly VND17 billion of revenues in the first year. Overcoming initial difficulties, its operations gradually became stable. Now, its revenues top VND400 billion a year.
The company has expanded its operations to other provinces and especially to neighbouring Laos. The firm’s six key business centres include Thai Nguyen Branch cum Head Office; Dai Tu Branch responsible for mining and processing coal; Phu Luong Branch responsible for manufacturing iron and steel alloys; Quy Hop Branch responsible for mining and manufacturing tin for export; and a tin production joint venture in Laos. In addition, it also manages an independent unit - Cat Ket quarry ore.
The firm also invested about VND200 billion in an iron alloy processing complex in La Hien commune, Vo Nhai district, Thai Nguyen province with an annual output of 10,000 tonnes. With a large scale, the project contributes to better exploitation of resources in Thai Nguyen, creates jobs for hundreds of local workers and pays more taxes to the local State Budget.
With eight years of construction and development, and the dynamic and entrepreneurial leadership of the board and the consensus of all employees, Mountainous Mining Company has set a path to sustainable development. The workforce has expanded from some 30 employees at first to about 400 people now. Through each stage, the size and position of the company are increasingly expanded and its prestige in the eyes of provincial and central authorities is boosted.
Under the current context of economic slowdown, the company has adopted measures to optimise operations, increase savings, and boost working productivity to ensure the livelihood of workers. Speaking about the prospects of Thai Nguyen economy, Mr Tran Dinh Nghia, President and Manager of Mountainous Mining Joint Stock Company, expressed his confidence in the determination of provincial leaders and other departments in improving the competitiveness of Thai Nguyen province, making it a promised land and ideal destination for investors.
