AMM-45 Approves Nomination of Vietnamese Deputy FM as ASEAN Secretary General
At the 45th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (AMM-45) in Cambodia, ASEAN Foreign Ministers supported Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Le Luong Minh to assume ASEAN Secretary General next term. Incumbent ASEAN Secretary General is Mr Surin Pitsuwan, who will end his office term this year.
ASEAN Foreign Ministers will send the recommendation to 21st ASEAN Summit to be held in November 2012 for an official approval. Vietnamese Deputy FM Le Luong Minh will begin his term in January 2013 and end in February 2017.
