Dr Doan Duy Khuong, Vice President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) hosted a working meeting with Mr Shimoyamada Toranosuke, Chairman of Japan - Vietnam Economic Exchange Association on July 23, 2012 in Hanoi in a bid to strengthen business connectivity and step up trade and investment promotion activities between the two nations.
This visit of Japanese delegation to Hanoi is part of preparatory events for the celebration of 40th founding anniversary of diplomatic relationships between Vietnam and Japan in 2013.
The association will organise a series of economic and cultural exchange activities in 2013 like sending the Japanese business delegation to Vietnam for the purpose of promoting business relations, sending the Sumo delegation to Vietnam to perform, and show Japanese cartoon films, said Mr Shimoyamada Toranosuke.
“The world economy is gradually recovering. Vietnam's economy has achieved high growth rates in the past years while the Japan’s economy has grown only less than 1 percent. Thus, this is a good time and a good opportunity for companies of the two countries to exchange and connect businesses, particularly Vietnam’s export shipments to Japan, said Ken Matsuzawa, Chairman of International Friendship Exchange Council (FEC).
He added that, with high competitive advantage of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Vietnam and Japan, FEC's new objectives are to encourage Japanese SMEs to form cooperation and provide support to Vietnamese SMEs on the basis of mutual benefit. The two sides are committed not to taking full advantage of low-paid labour and exercising corporate social responsibility.
Minoru Komai, CEO of Tohwa Group, said: With nice traditional relationships built on mutual benefit, VCCI and FEC will give priority to cooperation for development of culture, education, community development, health, and environmental and natural resources protection.
Dr Doan Duy Khuong spoke highly of FEC’s care and cooperation as well as accompanied businesses. He pledged to closely coordinate with Japan to organise events in commemoration of anniversary activities in 2013 and beyond.
