Vietnamese PM Meets with ASEM Leaders to Boost up Bilateral Relations

Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung had separate meetings with senior leaders of ASEM members on the sideline of the 9th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM 9) Summit held on November 5 in Vientiane, Laos. They discussed measures to deepen the bilateral relations.
At the meeting with French President Francis Hollande, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, praised France as one of Vietnams leading economic, trade, and investment partners, particularly in the areas of science-technology, education, training and energy. The two leaders agreed to organize the “Year of Vietnam in France” in 2013 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic relations.
 
Prime Minister Dung also met with the Bulgarian President Rosen Plevnelie. The two leaders reciprocated measures to boost the two nations’ relations and cooperation, focusing on economy, investment, trade, energy, education & training, and health. On this spirit, the Bulgarian President Rosen Plevnelie said that he would plan to pay an official visit to Vietnam in early 2013 as his first trip to Asia.
 
 In the talk with Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Prime Minister Dung and President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, expressed their pleasure at the flourishing relations of the two countries. They pledged to direct relevant agencies to consider possibilities for enhancing the Vietnam-Indonesia relationship to a strategic partnership level in the future, especially in strengthening the solidarity within ASEAN.
 
 Prime Minister Dung also talked to Luxembourg Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker, Slovenian PM Janez Janša, and with UK Foreign Minister William Hague and Italian PM Mario Monti.
 
Luxembourg Prime Minister said his country would prioritize ODA for the Southeast Asian country.  Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša expected to push up the traditional friendship with Vietnam while Prime Minister Dung lauded the completion of the Bilateral Economic Cooperative Agreement and other agreements as a legal framework for developing economic cooperation in future.
 
Foreign Minister William Hague said the UK Government wants to promote the UK-Vietnam relations. He also highly valued Vietnam’s role in the region, especially at important forums like ASEAN and ASEM. 
 
Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti and the Prime Minister Dung discussed the activities to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Vietnam-Italy diplomatic relationship, laying the foundation for an upgrade.
