According to The French Embassy in Vietnam, a seminar entitled “Management and operation of Hanoi urban mass transit system” is set to take place in Hanoi on November 19, 2012. The seminar will have high-level speakers from transport public authorities in Paris region (Syndicat des Transports d’Ile de France - STIF) and Lyon region (Syndicat des Transports de l’Agglomération Lyonnaise - SYTRAL) as well as French experts specialised in bus and metro lines operation (RATP, main operator in Paris region and VTRA, operates worldwide).

The sharing of experience will allow Hanoi authorities to learn lessons from realities of other big French cities (Paris and Lyon) and Asian cities (Hong Kong and Seoul). Specially, the seminar will focus on institutional organisation of transportation system (public authorities, operation and maintenance companies) and on integration of different components of transportation system (transfer interchanges, ticketing).

France, through French Treasury and the French Development Agency (AFD), is the main donor of pilot Metro Line 3 in Hanoi. In addition to its concessional loan of EUR110 to Metro Line 3 project, AFD aims at supporting Hanoi City in its choices regarding the management and operation of the future integrated UMRT system.
