Thach Ban Co. Develops along with Trademark

Thach Ban Co., formerly known as Thach Ban Brick Factory, specialises in trading construction materials, design consultation, and constructing and transferring technologies for Tuynel brick and tile factories. It has become the No. 1 tile maker in Vietnam with five affiliated joint stock companies of TBSC, TBSC2, TBSC3, Dong Do Whetstone Co. and Mosaic Tile Co.

Since the beginning of its operation, the company has always focused on improving techniques, applying new technologies and developing new high-quality construction materials. Thach Ban Co. (TBC) has applied scientific and technical applications in production over the past 45 years to meet increasing demand of consumers.

Being a large enterprise in the construction material manufacture industry, TBC has always led others in technology reform. In 1991, the company imported a mould-forming system from Bulgaria, built glasshouses for drying tiles and bricks, and constructed an automatic production line of Tuynel kilns and drying-rooms capable of producing 20 million bricks a year to replace blast furnaces. It then upgraded the kilns and drying-rooms in 1998 to raise capacity of the production line to 40 million QTC bricks a year, bringing the company’s total outputs to 43 million QTC products per year, up 2.2 fold from the original design. The company also imported synchronous technology from Italy to produce TBC granite tiles, which have a high polish, standard sizes, european-standardised quality and are favoured by both local and foreign consumers. This is also the first man-made granite tile produced by a Vietnamese company.

To further meet market demand, in 2000 TBC invested in one additional artificial granite tile production line (Rollfeed and Spotffeeder technologies), lifting its capacity to two million square metres of granite tiles per year. TBC’s products can be found in all cities and provinces nationwide. Its products are now able to compete with imports in both quality and price. The company has regularly changed modes and styles of products, therefore, its artificial granite tiles have been consecutively awarded gold prizes at local and overseas trade fairs and exhibitions. The products have recognised as high-quality goods of Vietnam for nine years in a row.

With the motto “Put prestige at the top”, TBC has always attained high business results over the past years. In 2002, total TBC’s revenues were VND191.5 billion (US$12.3 million), of which VND6.6 billion (US$423,000) was contributed to the State budget. The respective figures for 2003 were VND205.5 billion (US$13.2 million) and VND7.8 billion (US$500,000) and for 2004 were VND211.8 billion (US$13.6 million) and VND9.6 billion (US$615,000).

The company has also expanded its business to trading construction materials on the domestic market and for export. In addition, for more sustainable development, TBC set up subsidiaries to research and expand to other businesses such as trading equipment and interiors; consulting construction and transferring technologies for sanitary porcelain and tile factories; constructing civil and industrial works, roads, irrigation works, infrastructure for urban areas; and trading houses.

TBC has received many diplomas of merit, medals and other notable awards from the State and the Vietnamese communist party, proving its achievements over the past years. In 2003, the company was awarded Third Class Labour Medal and the director was granted Second Class Labour Medal.

The high quality of TBC products is clearly attributable to the application of new technologies and the efforts of the company’s staff. TBC is determined to lead in the construction sector to become a “bright star” in the process of industrialisation and modernisation in the future.
