VCTSA Boosts Application of Scientific Techniques in Construction Sector

Vietnam Construction Technology & Science Association (VCTSA) was set up on August 24, 1982 under Decision No. 145/BT of the Ministers Council (precursor of the present Vietnamese government). It is a member of Federation of Vietnam’s Science & Technology Associations and a member of Asia Construction Engineering Coordination Council (ACECC).

The association engaged in major businesses such as construction of civil and industrial works; developing transport, irrigation and electricity projects; construction of waterways, continental works and airports; protection of construction environments and urban environments; studying soil-mechanics and geotechnics of works; and construction materials.

It has members throughout the country, from northern border provinces to the special zone of Vung Tau-Con Dao; its members are present at central and local state management bodies, training establishments, research institutions, manufacturing units and independent businesses.

With an enthusiastic membership of scientists and technicians from all basic construction sectors, the association has organised hundreds of conferences and seminars on science and technology activities. It helped implement scientific studies and bring technical and scientific achievements into production. The association attached much importance to training tasks and to praising young talents for improved quality of construction works. To further integrate into the world’s economy, the association is actively participating in programmes for enhancing the ability of engineers.

The participation of members from various construction fields creates advantages for them to exchange experiences and progress in scientific techniques. The association collects ideas for policies and plans of the Party and State about construction of basic infrastructure works.

Thanks to its contributions to the sector over the past years, the Construction Technology & Science Association was awarded the Second Class Labour Medal in 1997 and First Class Labour Medal in 2002.
