Tourism Advisory Board Makes Debut

The Tourism Advisory Board (TAB) made its debut at Sofitel Metropole Hotel, Hanoi on November 27, 2012. This is part of an EU-funded project aiming to enhance the tourism sector’s capacity for environmentally and socially responsible development.
 
The board consists of 20 experts selected for the scope of their influence on the industry. They are managing directors of hotels, tour operators and transportation companies, presidents of tourism associations, leaders of training institutions, representatives of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the European Chamber of Commerce, and State officials.
 
TAB is responsible for enhancing Vietnam’s competitiveness and making the country an attractive global destination by utilising resources of the State and private sectors, thereby creating a consistent and comprehensive industry strategy.
 
TAV will advise the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) on issues pertaining to tourism development in order to promote trade and investment activities of Vietnamese tourism industry. It will also offer a forum for industry leaders and government officials to identify and discuss contents related to tourism trade, environment, education and sustainability.
 
The next meeting of the council will take place in early 2013.
