Coffee Export Pass Target
Vietnam was estimated to export 201,000 tonnes of coffee valued at US$402 million in December, bringing the total export volume to 1.76 million tonnes and the value to US$3.74 billion in 2012, up 40.3 per cent and 36 per cent over 2011, respectively.
The results surpassed the yearly volume and value targets. The coffee export price averaged at US$2,137 per tonne in the first 11 months, down 3.08 per cent year on year.
With significant rises in volume and value, the United States and Germany were the biggest importers of Vietnamese coffee with the respective market shares of 12.03 per cent and 11.77 per cent. Notably, shipments to Indonesia surged 5.6 folds in volume and value over 2011. However, Belgium - the largest importer of Vietnamese coffee in 2011 - saw a drop of 33.6 per cent in volume and 39.3 per cent in value in 2012.
Vietnam’s coffee export is likely to rise because the supply will rise following the harvesting season at the end of the year.
