Interesting cultural activities are available during “Korea tourism year 2013” celebrating 21 years of Vietnam – Korea official diplomatic relations. These activities are expected to promote cooperation in tourism between Vietnam and Korea, especially attracting Vietnamese tourists to Korea.
Not merely introducing beautiful natural sites and already well known tourism destinations, the Korea tourism year 2013 co-organised by the Korea Tourism Organisation (KTO) and many other organisations also brings various activities such as music performances, medical tourism, reward tourism, and many other cultural activities to gain interest and help Vietnamese tourists understand more about Korea, which will increase the number of Vietnamese arrivals.
From March 1st of 2013, KTO in Vietnam's Facebook page was officially launched and is now implementing various online programmes and events. Especially, in response to the tourism topic “Miss Flower” launched by the head office in Seoul, KTO Vietnam has been organising “Photo Cover Contest”. After this, KTO Vietnam will continue managing its website and Facebook to build relations with fans of Hanllyu and create contact networks with customers.
Mini Tourism Fair was organised on March 21st and 22nd by Korea Outbound Club (KOC) and several travel units to introduce and sell Korean tourism products. This year, KTO Vietnam decided to officially sign memorandum of understanding with KOC to promote and sell strategic high quality tourism products. KTO will participate in large scale tourism fairs and apply various marketing strategies to broadcast Korea tourism comprehensively, including: Vietnam International Travel Mart in Hanoi (VITM 2013) from 18th – 24th April, Medi – pharm Mart 2013 in Hanoi from 8th – 11th May, and International Travel Mart in Ho Chi Minh city from 12th – 14th September. In these fairs, KTO Vietnam will have its own stands, and organise many interesting cultural activities to introduce to travel companies and tourists best Korean tourism service. Especially, with the coordination of KOC, KTO Vietnam will elaborate most effective marketing strategy to access customers. Moreover, KTO and KOC will advertise together in well known daily and online newspapers.
In 2011, more than 150,000 Vietnamese tourists visited Korea, up 17 percent over 2010. However, the year 2012 saw a moderate increase of 0.9 percent to over 160,000 Vietnamese visitors. Korea and Vietnam are known as two nation brothers with many similar customs and cultures. This time, the number of Vietnamese interested in Korea is increasing. The campaign “Korea tourism year 2013” with many culture exchange programmes, marketing programmes is expected to increase the figure many times higher.
