Vietnam - South Korea Environmental Cooperation

The Vietnam - South Korea Environmental Ministerial Meeting has undergone 10 assemblies since the memorandum of understanding was signed in 2004. This annual event has brought huge contributions to Vietnam’s environmental protection and sustainability. This meeting discussed and evaluated cooperation of two environment ministries in recent years and discussed cooperation contents in the 2012-2015 period.

 

Major contents aim at promote Vietnam - South Korea bilateral cooperation in the near future, including exchanging information and experience, strengthening environmental human resources, developing environmental technologies and industries, building environmental infrastructure in Vietnam, supporting Vietnam to make amendments to the Law on Environmental Protection 2005, implement National Target Programme on Environmental Pollution Mitigation and Improvement of Vietnam.

 

The meeting also discussed legal framework strengthening and polluted land and groundwater restoration in the 2012-2015 period, environmental protection feasibility project for the Nhue and Day Rivers and hazardous waste management project. The two sides also exchanged possibilities of cooperation in global and regional environment like response to climate change, green growth and low carbon economy.
