Garment - Textile Export to Key Markets Surges

Vietnam’s textile - garment export increased by 14.5 percent year on year to US$8.9 billion in the year’s first half of 2013, according to the Vietnam National Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex).

 

The United States market contributed the highest amount with US$3.94 billion, equivalent to 44.8 percent and up 12 percent from the same period of 2012.

 

Exports to the European Union (EU) market valued US$1.29 billion, accounting for 14.7 percent of total exports and rising 18 percent year on year. Shipments to Japan were worth US$1.1 billion, accounting for 12.5 percent of export value and rising 24.5 percent. South Korea contributed US$660 million, accounting for 7.5 percent and rising 32 percent. Exports to other markets reached US$1.85 billion.
