Seafood Export to EU and ASEAN Estimated to Go Up

Vietnam fisheries sector bears the influence of the anti-dumping policy imposed by the United States, which makes the volume of shrimps imported to this market stand still and shift to the countries free from import tax.

The Ministry of Fisheries reported total seafood export value in October is forecast to touch US$225 million, raising gross export value in the first ten months to over US$1.89 billion, equaling to 72.9 per cent of the plan and growing by 1.38 per cent on-year. The exports to Japan, EU, Republic of Korea and ASEAN are expected to go up late this year as a result of the increasing market demand.

Thanks to well-observed raising procedures, the output is on the rise. In October, the domestic catching output reached 138,000 tonnes, lifting total output of domestically raising and catching aquatic products to 1,078,185 tonnes this year, fulfilling 89.85 per cent over the plan and up 22.91 per cent on-year.
