"Golden - V" Design Award Encouraging Vietnam's Handicraft Sector  

 

The "Golden - V" award ceremony will be held on November 10 2004 in Hanoi by the Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Centre under the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
 

"Golden - V" is an award dedicated to products created by Vietnamese company and designers displaying excellent design. The competition has been organised for the first time in Vietnam, aiming to discover new talents in the design field, as well as promote the use of these designs in business activities.

 

The awards have the enthusiastic support of industry, promotional organisations and related agencies. In particular, some notable support activities are the technical assistance and endorsement provided by the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (ICSID), support from US aid funded project VNCI in sending three winners of the contest’s Grand Prize to participate and display their products in an international trade fair in 2005. It is also supported by producers, enterprises, artists and designers from all over the country.

 

The jury has chosen and awarded Golden - V prizes to 100 products from 395 entrants to participate in the final round. Another 19 products will be chosen to award variety prizes. The jury judging the final round includes famous designers and importers.

 

More than 400 representatives will be in attendance including representatives of the Party and Government, representatives from related agencies such as the Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Culture and Communication, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Ministry of Trade (Trade Promotion Department) and Hanoi University of Industrial Art, national and international trade promotion groups, enterprises specialising in handicrafts, artists, famous designers, press and news agencies.
