Export of Agro-forestry and Aquatic Products Reaches US$2.39 Bln in August

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said the export value of agricultural, forest and aquatic products was estimated to reach US$2.39 billion in August, totalling US$17.98 billion in the first eight months of 2013, down 1.1 percent over the same period in 2012.
 
Major agricultural exports were projected at US$8.99 billion, down 11.7 percent year on year, but seafood shipments valued at US$4 billion, up 1.3 percent, and forestry product export was forecast to rise 11.7 percent at US$3.52 billion.
 
Rubber, black pepper, cashew nut, woodworks were key growing exports in the period.
 
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said import value was estimated at US$12.09 billion in the first eight months of 2013, up 10.6 percent over the same period in 2012. In particular, the value of key imports reached US$9.33 billion, up 9.5 percent.
