Australia Supports “Clean up the world” Campaign in Vietnam

Mr John McAnulty, Australian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, joined representatives of People’s Committees from 24 districts as well as more than 700 students and residents at the opening ceremony of “Clean up the World”. The ceremony was followed by clean-up activities, tree planting and leaftlet delivery to educate local people about recycling and resource recovery, water reuse and conservation.
 
Addressing the ceremony, Mr John McAnulty said that through its network of embassies, consulates and missions around the world, the Australian Government conducts activities or projects mobilising groups and volunteers to take action on local environment issues.
 
“Clean up the World”is an annual international campaign which has been held in Vietnam since 1994. This campaign is an initiative supported by the Australian Government through the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).
