Vietnam, Italy Promote Trade and Investment

As part of the "Destination Vietnam" project of the Emilia Romagna region, Italy, and after the success of the Vietnam Economic - Commercial Representative Office in the Emilia Romagna region in May 2013, as part of celebrations of the 40th anniversary of Vietnam - Italy diplomatic relations and to promote two-way trade, the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Vietnam (ICHAM) in collaboration with the Italian Embassy in Vietnam, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Italian Ministry of Economic Development, and the Association of Chambers of Commerce of Emilia Romagna (Unioncamere Emilia Romagna) held a B2B meeting for Vietnamese and Emilia Romagna companies in Hanoi, Vietnam.) held a B2B meeting for Vietnamese and Emilia Romagna companies in Hanoi, Vietnam.
The B2B meeting aims to provide the opportunity for companies of Vietnam and to Emilia Romagna to boost trade ties and establish direct investment ties while drawing investment capital from Emilia Romagna to Vietnam.
 
Mr Pham Hoang Hai, Managing Director of the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Vietnam (ICHAM), said the Emila Romagna region is one of six key economic regions in Italy and is considered the heart of Italian mechanical industry. Emilia Romagna is regarded as one of the richest regions in Europe, with more than 450,000 businesses. Its GDP topped EUR50 billion in 2012. The region is expected to bring a lot of potential partners for Vietnamese companies in general and mechanical engineering and packaging industries of Vietnam in particular.
 
During this working visit, the Emilia Romagna business delegation, led by Mr Carlo Alberto Roncarati, President of the Association of Chambers of Commerce of Emilia-Romagna, and Ms Palma Costi, President of the Legislative Assembly of the Emilia-Romagna region, attended, worked and cooperated with the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) to support small and medium businesses of the both sides in trade and education.
In addition, the Emilia Romagna business delegation was received by Ms Ngo Thi Doan Thanh, Chair of Hanoi People's Council, who visited Emilia Romagna in May 2013. At the meeting, the two sides agreed on cooperation in urban planning management, infrastructure development, preservation of cultural and historical monuments, education and training and trade.
 
The Emilia Romagna delegation also met and worked with Ms Nguyen Thi Quyet Tam, Chair of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Council. The meeting contents focused on cooperation in urban planning, infrastructure development, water supply and drainage, and traffic management.
 
The delegation was received by Secretary of Binh Duong Provincial Party Committee, Mr Mai The Trung, and Chairman of Binh Duong Provincial People’s Committee, Mr Le Thanh Cung. The two parties shared strengths and advantages of each other and agreed to provide opportunities for opportunities of the two sides to exchange trade and investment in Binh Duong province. After the meeting, Ms Palma Costi and Mr Mai The Trung signed a strategic cooperation agreement.
 
In the Italy - Vietnam Year 2013, ICHAM organised an exchange visit by former Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi with the Italian business community in Vietnam on March 17, 2013. ICHAM hosted the first official visit of Italy (business delegation from Umbria region) to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City from April 21 to 26, 2013.
