1,000 Largest Taxpayers in Vietnam Honoured

As many as 1,000 Vietnamese companies with the biggest corporate income tax were recently honoured in Hanoi.

The list of 1,000 largest taxpayers in 2013, called V1000, was completed by Vietnam Report Joint Stock Company in collaboration with online newspaper VietNamNet and Taxation Journal.

Despite being restructured, State-owned enterprises (SOEs) still play the leading role in tax payment, accounting for 52.6 percent of income tax paid by V1000-ranked companies.

This reality proves that SOEs are still making huge profits and the performance of their "bulky" apparatuses has been markedly improved, largely due to their focus on core business lines and reasonable cost cuts.

Among the short-listed Top 100 taxpayers, SOEs account for 42 percent and make up 64.5 percent of taxes paid by Top 100 companies.
