Vietnam, Italy Promote Cooperation in Leather and Footwear Industry
The International Leather Fair System (Lineapelle) recently collaborated with the Special Agency of Milan Chamber of Commerce (Promos), Italy’s National Union of the Tanning Industry (UNIC), and the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (ICHAM), with support from the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (Vietrade) and Shoes and Leather Association of Ho Chi Minh City (SLA), to organise the seminar “Italian Leather Fashion Trends - Spring 2015” in Ho Chi Minh City. The event welcomed the representatives from Vietnam’s Associations of category, fashion clubs, designers, and more than 100 Vietnamese enterprises operating in leather, footwear and interior design sectors.
At the seminar, Vietnamese designers and enterprises got to know more about Italian fashion industry through the presentation of Italian experts about fashion leather trends for spring 2015.
Besides, Vietnam’s design schools and institutes had an opportunity to meet the representative of UNIC - Italy’s National Union of the Tanning Industry - to explore cooperation opportunities in organising training courses about fashion design and technology transfer.
Italy is one of the leading countries in the tanning industry. Italian leather export accounts for 25 percent of the world’s turnover and 65 percent of all Europe’s turnover.
In Vietnam, the leather and footwear sector has posted impressive growth in recent years with total export turnover reaching US$7.26 billion in 2012. The seminar promises to help organisations and enterprises of the two countries to explore cooperation opportunities, not only in trade but also in training and fashion design.
