Excellent New Start up

Being used to living and working in many Southeast Asian countries such as Laos, Thailand and Burma, Dan Christensen, a Danish businessman who has spent four years living in Vietnam, knows well the comparable advantages among ASEAN countries. He chose Vietnam as the location for his new head office after many months of deliberation. '"his is the most advantageous place for my products and services to be exported to many other countries around the world",he explained.

Dan said Vietnam is high ranking competitive economy in the region with an abundant workforce, low labour expenses but high capability of implementing new technology. In addition, the country is in the process of renovation and construction, so considerable investment in many fields, especially mechanics and technology for the construction and operation of factories is needed. With these advantages, Dan, Klavs B.Nielsen and Erik Martinussen decided in early November to found the 100 per cent foreign owned company DK Engineering Ltd that specialises in providing project development, design, engineering, documentation, project management and supervision and quality control for complex mechanical and electrical systems.

Like many other companies in the early days of operation, the company faces many difficulties in arranging and managing personnel. However, thanks to his management capability, many years experience in the mechanics and technology field and the industrious and creative characteristics of his Vietnamese staff, the initial difficulties have been overcome, creating a firm foundation for a new production and business start up.

To ensure sustainable development in the future, Dan and the management board point out a long term strategy to participate in project development and system delivery solutions from leading suppliers worldwide, aimed at inspiring and assisting customers in their project development and specification, and exercising competent management in the implementation phase.

At the same time, the company is also working to develop partnerships within Europe. Dan said that he and his colleagues will make every effort to build up a base of repeat customers from Vietnam as well as internationally and to become their preferred outsourcing partner. To this end, the only way to ensure their prestige with customers is through high quality products and services, from project development and design to quality control. To develop projects, the company will participate as an international and local technical partner in cooperation with Vietnamese Political partners, in the development of projects to be financed by ODA, and in particular Danida Mixed Credit projects such as agriculture, infrastructure, food and beverage as well as vocational training.

To prepare the conceptual design the company will create designs in-house or arrange for a sub consultant take the design responsibility. As regards engineering and documentation, the company will base the conceptual design, prepare shop-drawings, materials lists, specifications and installation manuals for the project's implementation. They will also provide management on behalf of customers to supervise and document the project implementation on site ensuring quality control for the supply and delivery of materials and equipment for the entire project. Also, the company will promote Technological Partnerships, primarily with European technology providers.

With such concrete plans and excellent products and services, the company is sure to reach its business goal of ensuring controlled and profitable growth based on selected repeat customers. Dan Christensen has every reason to be optimistic about a bright future for DK Engineering Ltd not only in Vietnam but also around the world.
