"IT Talents" Program with Target to Train 500 Young Professionals
The "IT Talents – Training 500 Young Professionals" programme was officially announced on 25 November 2004 in HCM City. The programme is co-organised by VSIC Computer School and Ho Chi Minh City’s Department of Science and Technology with a target to develop young and well-trained IT specialists with internationally standardised skills, allowing them to join the IT forces right after their graduation from universities and colleges.
Ho Chi Minh City has made great progress in deploying computerised management and e-government projects. The information and communication technology (ICT) industry itself is growing fast, integrating with the strong development of the national economy. However, the supply of IT human resources, especially qualitative specialists, has not yet met the actual demand. Therefore, the demand to develop qualitative ICT experts is becoming an urgent matter.
Based on that fact, VSIC Computer School and the city's Department of Science & Technology have co-organised a special two-year IT training programme for 2004-2005, called "IT Talents – Training 500 Young Professionals". The programme, which was recognised by Ho Chi Minh City’s People’s Committee, will ensure the training quality and expect to offer a state-of-the-art training environment as well as curriculum at low, affordable cost for students. The total cost for the course is VND4.2 million.
The programme’s subjects are second-year students onwards or fresh graduates with suitable entry knowledge. These students will be admitted depending on their previous year’s study result.
The 32-week training course consists of the 4 following packages: Microsoft network technique, Cisco network technique, Oracle database and Sun technology.
VSIC Computer School is recognised and strongly supported by Cisco Systems, Sun Microsystems, Oracle and Microsoft. "VSIC Computer School is very proud to be a special partner of global IT corporations for deploying the best training courses in Ho Chi Minh City. “"T Talents" is a part of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Department of Science & Technology and VSIC Computer School in order to co-organize training courses for the city’s general IT plan," said Mr. James Kow Kim Song, General Director of VSIC Computer School.
Outdoor activities, which are held by the Department and supported by VSIC Computer School, will help students improve their knowledge on IT industry of the city, approach and touch base with large-scale businesses' practical operations, fully understand the city’s IT projects, and help self direct themselves in future.
Right after receiving the course's certificate, students are able to join in IT projects that are being deployed by the city such as 2,000 IT Professionals for Export; IT Arboretum; Developing IT human resources for exporting to Japan. Thus, on certain aspects, the programme can be regarded as a bridge that links students to Ho Chi Minh City's IT projects. "This is a good chance for students not only to learn advanced technologies but also to approach the city’s IT projects. We warmly encourage students to join in this programme," said Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, IT Head of the Department of Science & Technology, about this training programme.
