Canadian Ambassador Pays Working Visit to Vinh Phuc Province
Recently Mr Phung Quang Hung, Chairman of the Vinh Phuc Provincial People's Committee, welcomed Mr David Devine, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Vietnam and Ms Barbara Nadeau, Commercial Counsellor of the Embassy.
Mr Phung Quang Hung introduced to Mr David Devine the potential advantages and investment policy of the province. To date, Vinh Phuc has attracted 167 FDI projects with total registered investment capital of nearly US$3 billion, coming from 14 countries and territories. Vinh Phuc is continuing to call for businesses in developed countries around the world including Canada to invest in such areas as industry, agriculture, tourism, health and education. Mr Hung proposed the Ambassador to introduce Canadian businesses to learn and invest in Vinh Phuc province, to support the ODA from Canada for investment and development in a number of areas which are encountering difficulty in capital, such as health care and climate change adaptation.
Mr David Devine said he would create the most favourable conditions for Canadian businesses to access investment opportunities in Vinh Phuc province in the near future. Canada already has the Canadian Chamber of Commerce (CanCham) as representative office in Ho Chi Minh City, which makes it convenient for Vinh Phuc province to access representatives from Canadian businesses to promote investment and trade. Canada is currently helping Vietnam with a number of projects related to institutional development and policy development. This is the first working visit of Canadian Ambassador to Vinh Phuc province. It has opened up many opportunities for cooperation for both sides and paved the way for development cooperation in various fields between the Canadian Embassy to Vietnam and Vinh Phuc province in the coming time.
