VN, Philippines Promote People-to-people Exchanges
Vietnam and the Philippines need to strengthen people-to-people exchange activities for promoting mutual knowledge and trust and advancing to an ASEAN Community by 2015.
Deputy PM, FM Pham Binh Minh welcomed Chairman of the Philippines-Vietnam Friendship Association Eddie Ilarde in Ha Noi on October 29.
The two sides agreed to work together for the establishment of the ASEAN Community by 2015, bringing into full play ASEAN's central role as well as raising the bloc's voice in dealing with regional peace and security issues.
Deputy PM Minh proposed the Philippines-Vietnam Friendship Association organize cultural activities to introduce and advertise the Vietnamese country, culture and people in the Philippines in the future.
He thanked the Philippines for providing scholarships for the Vietnamese students to study in the country.
