Successes for Pig Breeding in the United Kingdom
This was the theme of the conference co-organised on December 6, 2004 by the British Consul General to Ho Chi Minh City and the British Pig-breeding Association (BPA) with the participation of the leaders from the breeding sector and farm owners in the Southern provinces.
At the conference, BPA shared the achievements it obtained in creating a new variety of pig by crossbreeding throughout the United Kingdom. The Association also expressed hopes to strengthen relations with Vietnamese organisations and enterprises.
The United Kingdom’s pig breeding sector has attained remarkable advances. Its pigs are good at reproduction, growth and food transformation; pork is soft and fine in quality; and breeding pigs are diversified and highly adaptive, which is internationally recognised.
The amount of pork worldwide is forecast to reach 250 million tons in 2007, according to some experts.
