The art of carpet-weaving in Iran dates back to at least 2,500 years. The dyes used to create the coloring are all from plants, roots and other natural substances. Subtle variations in the same color sometimes occur, particularly in older carpets or those woven by nomadic tribes. Persian carpets are traditionally known for their tremendous variety in design, color, size, and weave. Moreover, they are known for the uniqueness of each and every rug produced.
In this collection, the exhibition would bring 200 Persian carpets in the collection, 14 main carpet designs or structures including Lachak-toranj (Corner-medallion design); Afshan (Overall flower design); Toranji (Medallion design); Mehrabi (Prayer design); Derakhti (Tree design); Baghi (Garden design); Moharramat (Striped design); Tasviri (Pictorial design); Shekargahi (Hunting design); Jangali (Jungle design); Goldani (Vase design); Golestani (Flower garden design); Tekrari (Endless repeat design); Talfighi (Mingle design), and 10 ways to categorize the Persian carpets.
In addition, there will be special activities during exhibition. Visitors will meet in person with carpet artisans and learn more about how to weave such beautiful and artistic carpets that make them become the world's legend.
