With the objective of attracting more tourists from western European markets, Vietnam's tourism sector has some positive policies like visa exemption for 6 countries and simultaneously launched stimulus programs with the cooperation of national airline and travel operators. Vietnam Business Forum has an interview with Mr Vu The Binh, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Tourism Association on this topic.  Giang Tu reports.
After the Prime Minister issued the visa-exemption policy for 6 countries, what should the tourism sector do to be able to promote the value of this?
Visa exemption is crucial for promoting tourism growth but it requires lot of work to be able to promote the values. The first thing to do is to immediately implement a program to boost tourism and to attract Western European tourists to Vietnam, but it was not easy, because the implementation time of the resolution for visa exemption is only for a year. So, from the Tourism Authority to businesses are implementing a series of activities to gain effectiveness from the first month of implementation, to ensure that the number of tourists coming from Western Europe may increase.

Please tell us which specific stimulus package the tourism sector is implementing to attract Western European tourists?
Currently we are implementing a stimulus package with the main content to build tourism products suitable for the Western European market. These products have higher levels of culture, find unique features of Vietnam. The Western European tourism market is fiercely competitive, so we must build a unique product, with new and attractive features, together with an acceptable price. Secondly, the tourism sector must strengthen propaganda strongly not only in the country but also in Western European markets about the visa exemption program of the Government and encourage visitors to Vietnam. Another important task of is to ensure safety for travellers in the localities. The tourism industry has to cooperate with local authorities to implement strictly the instructions of Prime Minister. We believe that with the strong performance, the results obtained from the stimulus program will be effective quickly.

Does the stimulus package include the participation of Vietnam Airlines to offer service packages at competitive prices?
Currently Vietnam Airlines is the leading carrier of international tourists in general and Western European visitors to Vietnam in particular, so the stimulus packages have ties with Vietnam Airlines. The collaboration of Vietnam Airlines will accelerate arrivals to Vietnam because it is not only the interests of the tourism industry but also for the airline industry, the aviation industry is also seeking growth in arrivals from Western Europe on their flights. In particular, Vietnam Airlines is now increasing its fleet of large aircraft, so the number of tourists should increase more, along with the tourism industry's efforts to promote tourism to attract more visitors from Western Europe to Vietnam. The signing of the cooperation between the tourism industry and aviation will ensure appropriate fare associated with the tours of the tour operators. We hope that cooperation between the two sides will make Vietnam's tourism image in the hearts of Western Europe become deeper.

In your opinion, what should we do for the stimulus to bring maximum efficiency?
In the stimulus program, besides efforts of enterprises, that is, apart from the devaluation of the services, it needs the support of the state. Tourism is the general economy, bringing benefits to all of society, so the state should support issues such as VAT reduction / exemption for businesses involved tourism stimulus, or delay deadline for corporation taxes so they have enough resources to regenerate their products. In the current context, when the economy is tough, every little thing that the State accompanies will businesses has great significance, contributing to strong growth for Vietnam tourism.
