Vietnamese Art Works Displayed in Finland
In an attempt to promote the cultural exchanges between Vietnam and Finland, Vietnam Fine Arts Museum will send 34 art works (12 paintings, 19 lacquers and 3 painted statutes of 17th-18th centuries) for an exhibition organised by Hameenlinna Museum ( Finland) from January 12 to March 6, 2005.
The exhibition named "Lotus flower- fine arts from Vietnam", is the first of its kind organised in Finland with famous art works of 29 great artists of the first generation from the Indochina Fine Arts School. Many art works had been displayed in other countries such as the silk painting Co Theu (embroidery lady) by Nguyen Van Chanh (1957), the lacquer paintings Rest at roadside by To Ngoc Van (1953) and Summer breeze by Pham Hau (1940). In addition, there are 33 paintings by 7 painters of the super-realistic school including those of Finnish painter Nurmi Maritta who lives and works in Vietnam.
After the exhibition, the art works will continue to be displayed in fine arts museums Waino Altonen and Sinebrychoff (Finland) from March 17 to October 2, 2005.
