US-Vietnam Air Route Resumed
On December 10 United Airlines conducted the first flight from San Francisco to Vietnam via Hong Kong in nearly 30 years. Passengers were warmly welcomed at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City.
Mr. Michel Marine, US Ambassador to Vietnam, said Vietnam was a dynamic market for the US and services of United Airlines allowed us to improve commercial tourism for benefits of the two countries. "We are proud of the flight because it will contribute to political, economic and cultural exchanges between the US and Vietnam," according to Joe Mannix, General Director of United Airlines in Vietnam.
United Airlines used Boeing 747 - 400 in the flight, including 14 first-class seats, 73 seats for businessmen and 260 popular ones. United Airlines operates with 3,500 flights per day to more than 200 local and international destinations, including 12 in Asia-Pacific region.
