With the theme "Strengthening Vietnam - Japan Cooperation - Towards International Economic Integration", the Vietnam - Japan Economic Forum (VJEF 2015), to be organised by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) in cooperation with the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) in Hanoi on October 14, 2015, is expected to attract around 300 delegates, who are mainly government officials, economists, business leaders and media agencies from the two countries. Up to 150 Japanese participants will attend the event, particularly leaders from the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam, JETRO, JICA, JBIC, the Kawasaki Chamber of Commerce, the Japan Business Association, the Research Institute of International Japan Affairs, and many Japanese companies.

The forum aims to further Vietnam - Japan strategic partnership. VJEF 2015 will assess current situations and propose solutions to strengthen Vietnam - Japan investment and trade relations; focus discussions on three main areas: Vietnam - Japan economic cooperation in the context of international economic integration; Vietnam - Japan smart agricultural cooperation, and Vietnam - Japan financial cooperation; and envisage investment opportunities for Japanese companies during Vietnam’s restructuring process.

The forum is a platform for Japanese and Vietnamese businesses to meet, exchange and seek investment opportunities. Particularly, the forum will also provide an opportunity for businesses of both nations to speak face to face with government officials at all levels.

According to VCCI, the policy dialogue session, themed "Vietnam economic restructuring: Results, issues and development orientations beyond", will discuss Vietnam - Japan economic cooperation: Current situation and measures for promoting trade and investment relations in the coming time, especially industrialisation and supporting industry development strategy in Vietnam. The session will also delve into impacts of TPP on Vietnam and Japan.

In addition, the forum also has two other sessions, themed “Strengthening Vietnam - Japan smart agriculture cooperation” chaired by Mr Kawada Atsusuke, Chief Representative of JETRO Hanoi, and “Vietnam - Japan financial cooperation and open opportunities for Japanese businesses in Vietnam’s corporate restructuring process" chaired by of Mr Kato, First Secretary at the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam.
