EVN to Privatise Eight Affiliates in 2005

The Ministry of Industry has recently issued a decision to privatise six affiliates of the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) this year.

The units to be privatized will include:

• Thac Ba Hydropower Plant
• Electrical Equipment Repairing Workshop under Haiphong Electricity Co.
• Electrical Installation Factory and the Porcelain & Glass Insulator Factory under the Electricity Co. No.1
• Material Transport Factory and Mechanics Factory under Electricity Co. No.3
• Hanoi Electricity Company’s Electricity Design Center and Pha Lai Thermoelectricity Plant

To date, EVN has completed the privatisation process at 11 of its affiliated enterprises with total capital of VND3 trillion (US$191.1 million).
