This year, the 10th edition international exhibitions on machine tools & metalworking solutions for production upgrade - Metalex Vietnam will return to the manufacturers and industrialists in Ho Chi Minh City combined with the presence of the Nepcon Vietnam exhibition which is Vietnam’s only exhibition on SMT, testing technologies, equipment, and supporting industries for electronic manufacturing, promising to bring an exciting and efficient playground for manufacturing industry and trade in Vietnam.
What are your perception and point of view about Vietnam market?
According to the ranking of the best countries for investment by the World Bank, after India and Singapore, Vietnam is considered as the best country to invest in 2016. Vietnam has a favourable geographical location right at the heart of East Asia – home to a number of large and vibrant economies. Vietnam’s economy has showed a prominent momentum with 6.6 per cent soaring of GDP which is the highest level over the past five years and greater than the 6.2 per cent growth targeted by the National Assembly reflected positive changes with stronger development direction of economic.

With increasing disposable incomes, rapid urbanisation and rising living standards, Vietnam is one of the most dynamic emerging economies in the Southeast Asia region. Retailers, in particular, have also been drawn by its relatively young population of consumers – of which 70 per cent are aged between 15 and 64 years – who promise to be a key driver of robust market growth and drive the economic cycle. The education system is in transition process and utilizing the international curriculum to train the new generation of human resources for the country. Meanwhile, the lifestyle of Vietnamese people is moving up the ladder, they want the reliable products that can enhance their daily lives. With increasing consumer's demands, the investors at local and overseas will soon have greater opportunities to extend its reach into this previously untapped market.
With more than 16,300 active FDI projects that have collectively pulled in a total of $238 billion, Vietnam has become a destination of choice for foreign investors. Given the positive prospects for both global and regional economies, Vietnam is expected to arise more and more growth of small and medium investment projects which will be developed follow up the main stream of these FDI project in order to serve the demands on parts or components locally without import from overseas.
Seize and go along with above positive signs, Reed Tradex has been continuing to grow deeper and wider business insight, to erect more and more connecting channels between businesses, investors and manufacturers, to create interactive and the value of trade in Vietnam market.
With 10 years of experience in exhibition organization in Vietnam, what are the trends or changes of expectation, product searching, demands or visiting purpose of Vietnam interpreters?
The import value of Vietnam has hit US$121.4 billion with the commodities of machinery and equipment, petroleum products, steel products, raw materials for the clothing and shoe industries, electronics, plastics, and automobiles. The purchase power of Vietnam is reflected well for a momentum of increasing, and manufacturers are turning to invest more in long-term production line by importing more equipment and machineries that brought the positive result in industrial production, with the manufacturing sector increasing 10.6 per cent year on year. Indeed, the adoption and utilization of quality machineries and equipment, in addition to produce the products that possible meet higher standards, meet the increasingly demands in market, also contribute to create the confidence and trust for partners and investors in building the sustainable production relations in long term.
Therefore, Reed Tradex sets the intent to develop and expand in both scale and contents for the specialized exhibitions involving manufacturing like Metalex and Nepcon. By bringing the diversity global brands from around the world to one event, we aim to bring more options, create more choices for Vietnam local firms to invest and adapt to their production line. From here, the local industrialists can shorten the distance of time and geography, to save time and have more convenience in contact with international partners. At the same time, they can also introduce their manufacturing capabilities, quality product and components to potential customers in Vietnam and overseas at the same event.
Can you show us the goal and vision of Reed Tradex to develop and organize more specialized exhibitions in Vietnam?
Rising incomes and an emerging middle class are generating growth in consumer-driven sectors in Vietnam. There is considerable demand for high quality as well as lifestyle-oriented products and services. Particular in the urban areas, consumer demand is surging for higher quality products and services that cannot be satisfied by local production. With the influx of foreign retailers and suppliers, consumers would have greater choice in the short term, but over a longer term domestic products can replace and serve this huge demand by effective investment, clear analysis plans and market development to be able gain more competitive in local market and reach beyond to global market. In the future, stepping up over the specialized exhibitions involving manufacturing, Reed Tradex is planning to reach out to the field of life-style exhibitions and events to better serve the Vietnam market.
