Vietnam to Boost Tea Exports to Russia, US This Year
Vietnam, the world's sixth largest tea exporter and eighth largest tea producer, is striving to increase tea exports to Russia and the US, the two largest markets out of 49 importing countries of Vietnamese tea, this year, said the Vietnam Tea Association (Vitas).
According to Vitas experts, Vietnam will be able to export over 5,000 tons of tea to Russia.
The US is now the world's eighth biggest tea consumer, with consumption structure of 84 per cent black tea. Vietnam, however, will increase the exports of green tea to the US this year because of its low green tea price.
To boost exports of the product into the two markets, Vitas has recently called upon tea producers and exporters to improve the quality of their products to meet the growing demand of Russian and US customers while refraining from unhealthy competition.
