AES-VCM Adds Fuel for Students to Secure Energy Future
AES-VCM Mong Duong Power Co., Ltd, in cooperation with the Centre for Education Development (CED), recently presented AES-VCM Energy Career Scholarships to 20 outstanding students from Quang Ninh majoring in power and energy at Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) and Electric Power University (EPU).
The AES-VCM Energy Career Scholarship is one of the company’s initiatives to invest in education, training and preparing a high-tech workforce for Quang Ninh in particular and Vietnam energy sector in general. Besides the US$600 financial support, each student will benefit from participating in soft skills and English training, volunteer activities, community support and field visit to Mong Duong 2 BOT Thermal Power Plant invested and operated by AES-VCM Mong Duong Power Co. Ltd.
Addressing the ceremony, Mr David Stone, Managing Director of AES-VCM Mong Duong Power Company, said, “In Vietnam, AES provides safe, reliable and sustainable energy to foster the country’s growth. We believe that besides power energy, Vietnam also needs human energy to accelerate the country’s progress. We, therefore, make investment in people and education a top focus in social investment portfolio. I hope the scholarship and soft skills training that we offer to these outstanding students today shall add fuel for them to work harder at school and further improve personal development to become the owner of Vietnam energy future that AES would be a part of.”
This is the second year AES-VCM granting Energy Career Scholarship which are highly appreciated by professors and students from the two universities.
