DOMESCO: Sustainable Development Coupled with Social Responsibility

During its more than 29 years of development, in addition to constant efforts to work creatively, research, develop and supply high-quality products for public healthcare, DOMESCO Medical Import - Export Joint Stock Corporation has always performed its responsibility to the employees, the community and the whole society, aiming for sustainable development. This effort has been recognised by being honoured with many prestigious awards for sustainable development, with the most recent trophy being the “Mekong Delta Sustainable Business.”

Employees are a valuable asset
DOMESCO is currently staffed by 1,300 highly qualified and experienced employees. To exercise social responsibility to the workers, the DOMESCO leadership always pays due attention to improving their life, both material and spiritual, while providing favourable conditions for the trade unions to carry out employee-care policies. In order to create the best working environment for 1,300 employees, the corporation has constantly built and renovated its corporate culture, shaped appropriate development strategy, and trained professional, potential employees to take on scientific and technological advances in product research and development.

Defining that employees are the most valuable property, in the human resource strategy, DOMESCO actively supports and encourages its employees to develop and make new initiatives while focusing on creating long-term values for employees by building a good working environment, enabling them to develop their own personal capacity. Especially, DOMESCO has launched many employee training programmes with the aim of raising their professional knowledge and career development opportunities, building professional human resources and perfect corporate culture.

Ms Luong Thi Huong Giang, Vice President of the Board of Directors and General Director of DOMESCO, said, during 29 years of development, DOMESCO has always been dedicated to the employees. Thus, the corporation has introduced many best employee-care solutions in addition to general regulatory policies. For example, in addition to offering regular general medical check-ups for employees, DOMESCO also has special healthcare insurance programmes for managers, life insurance for managers and senior employees, and 24/7 accident insurance for all employees. DOMESCO also cares about their daily meals by constructing collective canteens where they can get food and relax and offering accommodations for those who reside far from their workplaces. Notably, the “Team Building” activities and the “Let's Talk Together” programmes, held weekly, are working to strengthen cohesion, sharing and unity among employees, forming a creative working force to deliver common goals of the corporation.

Besides, DOMESCO takes care of employees’ offspring. The corporation hosts Mid-autumn Festival, supports tuitions for students and grants awards to excellent students. The Trade Union also launched savings campaigns to raise funds to assist those facing difficult circumstances. After four years of deployment, the movement has produced practical effects, upheld the fine human values of solidarity, sharing and mutual support under the common roof of DOMESCO and further highlighted the DOMESCO culture.

Always taking the lead in exercising social responsibility to the employees, DOMESCO is honoured with the “Business for Workers” Award by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the Central Council of the Vietnam Business Association in three straight years (2015 - 2017). Especially, DOMESCO recently won the “HR Asia Best Companies to Work for in Asia” Award 2018 - one prestigious international award highly appreciated by many companies and leading HR experts.



Sharing with the community
In addition to excelling in business operations, building a fine corporate culture and taking care of employees’ lives, DOMESCO always supports the community and pioneers in meaningful voluntary activities, showing the corporate responsibility to the community and the whole society. Its typical activities include giving charitable medical check-ups and medicines to poor people in Dong Thap and other provinces; visiting and giving gifts to the Dong Thap Social Support Centre and the School for the Disabled; hosting blood donations; presenting scholarships to excellent students like scholarships for poor students with good study records in Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy; sponsoring sports and cultural activities in Dong Thap province; financing the “DOMESCO Dong Thap” Bike Race in more than 24 years; and taking part in entrepreneurship projects backed by the Government. General Director Luong Thi Huong Giang said, “During 29 years of operation, DOMESCO has been committed to sharing our success with the community because we understand profit is not a measure of success but success is what is contributed to the community and the whole society.”
