Van Don Economic Zone Master Plan Adjusted

The Prime Minister recently approved adjustments to Van Don Economic Zone Construction Master Plan to 2040, with a vision to 2050.

Van Don Economic Zone is expected to become an economic development impetus of Vietnam, an international trading center of the region and be listed among the most livable cities of the Asia - Pacific region; a dynamic economic center that focuses on tourism, high-end product manufacturing and services; and a regional center of international trade and business.

Van Don Economic Zone covers 2,171.33 square kilometers, including Van Don district of Quang Ninh province. The land area is about 581.83 square kilometers and the sea area is about 1,589.5 square kilometers.

The Prime Minister requested, on the basis of reviewing and continuing reasonable elements of the Van Don Economic Zone Construction Master Plan approved in the Prime Minister’s Decision No. 1296/QD-TTg dated August 19, 2009, assessing strategic directions of the country and Quang Ninh province for the case of Van Don Economic Zone to use and develop land funds and local potential, propose functional areas, social infrastructure and reasonable technical infrastructure for the economic zone.
