Vietnam Tourism Adopts Int'l English Test

Local hotels and travel companies have begun to apply the Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC), an international standard English language proficiency program, to recruit and promote employees, according to Vietnam's tourism authority

The program is utilized widely to recruit hotel managers, employees, and tour guides, said an official of the Vietnam National Administration for Tourism (VNAT) at an international seminar in Hanoi Mar. 29.

Accordingly, VNAT and TOEIC Vietnam jointly organized the seminar to promote the introduction of TOEIC tests within the hospitality industry.

Teachers at tourism schools have been encouraged to use TOEIC tests to prepare their lesson plans, VNAT added.

For more than 25 years, TOEIC has been an international standard used to measure the ability of non-native English speakers to use English in everyday work activities.
