Vietnam Needs 2,500 Auditors by 2010

Vietnam is facing a shortage of auditors and will need some 2,500 auditors to deal with the situation by 2010.

Of the figures, 2,000 auditors will be required with Vietnam standard certificates and 500 with international certificates.

The country at present has about 5,000 workers working in auditing companies, however, only 800 of them have auditor certificates and 100 of them have international certificates.

The Ministry of Finance grants certificates to 200 auditors each year. It last year licensed 168 auditors.

Vietnam now has 84 auditing firms since auditing services emerged in Vietnam in 1991.

Last month, the first auditor association was set up in the country, with initial membership of 377 practicing auditors from 61 accounting and auditing companies operating in Vietnam.
