Vietnam's Garment Export Turnover to EU Falls 15 per cent in Jan-Apr
Vietnam's garment export turnover to the European Union (EU) in the first four months of this year decreased 15 per cent over the same period of 2004, according to the Ministry of Trade.
Vietnam's garment exports to the EU will face many challenges in the future and it is difficult for the sector to gain this year’s targeted export turnover of US$1-1.2 billion, said an official of the Vietnam Garment and Apparel Association (Vitas).
Even "hot" categories, regarded as Vietnam garment's strong force, also face severe competition with Chinese and Indian products. The export turnover of "hot" categories declined about 30 per cent.
In the four-month period, Vietnam attained garment export revenues of US$1.32 billion, up 6.1 per cent on-year.
