Vietnam is expected to get an additional US$1.89 billion in official development assistance (ODA) based on agreements it has signed with international donors so far this year, said  the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI).

Of the total capital, around US$1.62 billion will come as commercial loans and US$273 million as non-refundable aid.

The most recent ODA agreements were signed with the country’s largest donors such as the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the World Bank (WB) and the French and Japanese governments. They will provide US$120 million for the northern electricity transmission project, US$100 million to the poverty reduction support project, US$11.5 million to the tea development project and US$9.2 million for the upgrade of the Hoa Binh Hospital in northern Hoa Binh province, respectively.
