Vietnam's Footwear Exports to Italy May Rise Next Year
The Vietnamese Ministry of Industry forecasts that Vietnamese footwear exports to Italy will continue increasing in 2006 due to the foreign country's lack of footwear workers and its limitation on importing Chinese footwear products.
Vietnam earned over US$110 million in the first ten months of this year from exporting footwear products to Italy, a year-on-year increase of 13.5 per cent, according to the ministry.
Besides Italy, the export of Vietnamese leather and footwear products to the US and Turkey also grew strongly in the period, especially in October.
Vietnam exported over US$2.4 billion worth of leather and footwear products in the January-October period of this year, up 14 per cent on-year. It initially set the yearly target of US$3.1 billion.
