Vietnam Airlines to Add More Domestic Flights for Tet
National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines said it would increase flights on domestic routes between January 1 and February 17 next year to meet soaring demand for travel during the occasion of the Lunar New Year Festival (Tet).
The additional flights will be mainly conducted on routes linking Hnaoi, Danang and Ho Chi Minh City, with 55 more flights on the Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City route and 150 more flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Danang and vice versa.
The airline will also operate more flights on routes connecting Ho Chi Minh City with Hue, Nha Trang in the central region and Phu Quoc island of the southern province of Kien Giang.
However, the carrier's international schedule will remain unchanged.
In addition, Vietnam Airlines is now carrying out a program to slash fares on the routes of Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City and Ho Chi Minh City-Danang from early this month.
Accordingly, passengers on flights from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City between November 1, 2005 and January 10, 2006 pay only VND2 million (US$126.6) for a return ticket, compared with VND3.05 million (US$193) for the previous price.
Passengers on the Ho Chi Minh City-Danang flights from November 5-14 also enjoy a reduction to VND1 million (US$63.3) from VND1.6 million (US$101.2) per return ticket.
