Vinatex Eyes US$1.2Bln Export Revenues This Year
The Vietnam National Garment & Textile Corporation (Vinatex) is estimated to earn total export revenues of US$1.2 billion this year compared to last year’s US$865.3 million, according to a Vinatex official.
Vinatex also aims to become a leading multi-ownership group in Southeast Asia, with an export turnover of more than US$3.5 billion and employ 250,000 workers by 2015.
Founded in 1995, Vinatex currently has over 60 members and associated companies and employs 105,000 workers. The corporation’s products are now available in 60 countries and territories around the world.
Annually, the corporation produces 14,000 tons of cotton, 130,000 tons of fibers, 190 million square meters of cloth, 11 tons of knitwear and 200 million pieces of garments.
Vinatex yesterday held a ceremony to receive the Ho Chi Minh Order and announce the Prime Minister’s decision to establish the Vietnam Garment and Textile Group (VGTG).
